Hurricane Recovery Initiatives

The catastrophic effects of Hurricane Helene on western North Carolina are unimaginable. We know that everyone is trying to determine how to help…from providing immediate relief and supplies for impacted communities…to longer term support in rebuilding and restoring these communities.

Currently the focus is on the continued search and rescue…as well as getting infrastructure, communications, electricity and water restored.

Donation of Supplies

There are many organizations and association members working to provide support to these communities, providing food, water and supplies. We are working with NCHBA and the US Veterans Corps as a regional collection site for supplies that will be distributed throughout western North Carolina.

Greensboro Drop Off: Monday-Wednesday, October 7-9 from 9 am – 4 pm

Join us in dropping off donations Monday-Wednesday, October 7-9 from 9 am – 4 pm at the Greensboro Builders Association office – 115 S. Westgate Drive (Pomona Business Park). We will have a MI-BOX Mobile Unit located in the front of the office building for drop offs.

If you have a few hours and would like to help receive donations next week…email Cheryl Collins to advise your availability.

NCHBA Hurricane Recovery Fund

The North Carolina Home Builders Association has initiated a Hurricane Recovery fund with an initial $100,000 contribution. These funds are being used to help industry members, local associations and others across western NC during these challenging times. The Greensboro Builders Association has contributed $5,000 to this fund. Members are encouraged to join in providing donations.

You can make a donation by clicking this link or send a check payable to the NCHBA Educational and Charitable Foundation – mail to 5580 Centerview Drive, Suite 415, Raleigh, NC 27606.

Rebuilding Volunteers

As an industry, we know this is going to be a lengthy process ahead for these communities to rebuild. The need for volunteers to help with general clean-up and rebuilding will be great. If you would like to volunteer to help when these opportunities become available, please let us know. We have members currently in the process of identifying locations that need our help. Additional details will be shared in the coming weeks as these opportunities unfold.

  • Please check any areas of interest and we will forward additional information as it becomes available.

Working together…we can help to make a difference.

Watch for additional information and updates on recovery initiatives on our website and in emails.
