Earlier this year, GBA members participated in TREBIC’s Election Committee interviewing Guilford County Commissioner candidates to determine those who best understand and support our industry as well as regional economic development. Based on candidate interviews, below are recommended candidates supportive of the building & real estate industry who received contributions from NC BUILD-PAC from our association.
- District 4: Mary Beth Murphy
- District 5: Carly Cooke
NORTH CAROLINA HOUSE & SENATE
NCHBA BUILD-PAC, the political action committee of the North Carolina Home Builders Association, has made contributions statewide to pro-housing candidates. The decision to support a candidate was based on several factors, including but not limited to previous support of the industry, historical voting records and staff evaluations. Thus, the candidates that received a financial contribution have a track record on issues of importance to the home building industry.

US CONGRESS: NC REPRESENTATIVES
The National Association of Home Builders operates a federal political action committee (NAHB BUILD-PAC) to financially contribute to candidates for federal office who support housing issues in the US Congress. The NAHB BUILD-PAC Board of Trustees is composed of members appointed by the states and contributions to federal candidates from any state must be initiated by that state’s trustees. Gary Hill of Greensboro and Thomas McClain of Hendersonville serve as North Carolina’s two trustees.
