Construction Careers Committee: 2022 Plans

Construction Careers remains a top priority for our Association this year…and we encourage your participation. Join us for our kickoff meeting on Tuesday, February 1 at 4 pm via Zoom.
Our agenda will include updates from current initiatives and strategic partnerships as well as brainstorm additional opportunities for the year.
Will Yearns, chairman of our Construction Careers committee, will share information on Guilford Jobs 2030 workforce development initiative, including GBA’s role in conjunction with Guilford County Schools as we apply for the Good Jobs Challenge federal grant focused on developing an education and training system to provide skilled employees to the construction workforce in Guilford County.
Whitney Higgins with Builders Bridge will share updates on plans with Guilford County Schools this spring including lunch & learn meetings with area students; home building immersion tours to neighborhoods under construction providing hands-on opportunity with various trades; and summer internships opportunities.
We also want to explore other ways we can strengthen and grow interest in construction careers.
